Pelvic Floor

Preventive Post-Partum Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

The Pelvic Floor Unit of HM Hospitals began its journey in 2011 after assessing, under the coordination of Dr. Ignacio Galmés Belmonte, urologist with extensive experience in this field, the need to respond with a Multidisciplinary Unit to an important relationship of pathologies affecting both women, men and children.

The pelvic floor is the set of muscles, ligaments and fascia that close the pelvic cavity in its lower part, allowing passage through the urethra and rectum (in men and women) and the vagina (in women). The pathologies related to the Pelvic Floor are very numerous and affect both women and men or children. This is the reason why the Pelvic Floor Unit of HM Hospitals is made up of different specialists (Multidisciplinary Unit) that includes: urologists, gynecologists, general surgeons, rehabilitators and physiotherapists, psychologists, all of them specifically trained in pelvic floor.
