Neuroradiology

Neuroradiology is the branch of Radiology that covers the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures carried out using imaging techniques, both in adults and in children, in relation to the following areas of interest: the skull, brain and meninges, extracranial head, neck, vertebral column, spinal cord, cranial and spinal nerves, and cranial, cervical and spinal vessels.

These procedures require expensive and highly complex technical equipment, namely computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) and intra-arterial angiography equipment.

As a specialty within Radiology, Neuroradiology is made up of radiologists with a specialized and almost exclusive focus on this subject, because nowadays, given the highly technical nature and progress of medicine, this area should be clearly differentiated as one of the branches of the Radiology services of any advanced hospital.
